Who is involved in making sure your Eftpos works? The Eftpos industry in New Zealand can be particularly confusing for business owners due in part to the large number of parties involved. Here is a brief breakdown of the four major groups involved in making sure your Eftpos terminal is installed and operates properly. The network peopleCompanies such as Paymark are the groups that operate the networks that allow your business to accept payments from your customers and deposit them into your bank accounts. These are the people you pay a monthly network fee to.The manufacturersThe people who manufacture the actual terminals include Hypercom and in reality have very little contact with you as the end customer. These manufacturers use resellers such as Eftco to on-sell their terminals to business owners. The resellersThe Eftpos terminal resellers are the people who you are likely to have the most contact with. Resellers should discuss your business needs with you, recommend a suitable terminal and then arrange for it to be installed and your team to be trained in how to use it. If you buy your Eftpos terminal outright you pay directly to the resellers. If you lease/rent your terminal, your reseller will service your terminal for the term of your contract and upgrade if necessary. Confusingly, you don't actually make any ongoing lease payments to the reseller. These payments are made to...The finance companiesIf you lease your Eftpos terminal, despite sourcing it from a reseller, the finance companies such as Equipment Finance Limited and Leasetech Limited are the ones you pay your monthly terminal rental to. It is important to note that they are the owners of the equipment and at the end of your rental term will be expecting to get the equipment back as per a normal rental contract. If you have any questions about the new terminal standards or anything else Eftpos related please don't hesitate to give us a call on 0800 180 180. We'll gladly give you any advice or information you need to get you on the right track. HELP!How to figure out what type of Eftpos paper you need for your Eftpos machineThere are two types of Eftpos paper rolls; thermal paper and bond paper. Understanding which type you need is relatively simple and requires a simple test of your current paper to find out.You can tell which type of paper your machine takes by scratching a little of the existing roll with your fingernail. If it marks clearly then you will be using thermal paper. For our range of thermal paper rolls, click here. You can then select the image that looks like your machine and it will tell you what rolls to order. If the paper doesn't mark clearly, you will need to visit our Bond Paper Rolls page by clicking here, and then selecting the picture that looks like your Eftpos machine. If you have any confusion about what you need to order, feel free to ring our team on 0800 180 181 and we will point you in the right direction. |
